Heartland Robotics Materials
Heartland Elementary

What was the purpose of this project? The purpose of this project was to acquire materials to supplement our existing robotics equipment. These materials provide an opportunity to build on existing knowledge, by providing additional sensors with a new robotic interface. Student will utilize problem solving, creativity, and perseverance as they learn and apply this new technology.

Did the project fulfill that purpose? If so, how? Absolutely. These materials require a great deal of analytical ability and perseverance for students. I have witnessed students collaborating, and utilizing scientific inquiry as they build and program robots using these new materials.

Please include the number of students involved in this project, grade levels and subject areas covered. At this point, only 5th grade students (6) are utilizing these new robotic kits, but soon 4th grade students (7) will be given time and opportunity to "explore" these materials.

Describe how Foundation funds and this project benefited students. These funds allowed me to purchase innovative and sophisticated technology to challenge these students. This has definitely "enriched" the gifted Program here at Heartland.

Do you feel this project should be replicated in other schools throughout the district? Please explain. Yes. I believe these materials provide a meaningful supplement to the robotic materials that are currently used in most Blue Valley elementary schools.

Other comments: Thank you for providing this vehicle to acquire these materials for our students.
