Prairie Star Elementary
What was the purpose of this project?
To reduce abscences while improving hand washing by providing verbal education and Purell hand sanitizer, in the Pods, the area between PE and Music, the Library and Computer area, and the health room.
Did the project fulfill that purpose? If so, how?
Having observed a reduction in abscences the later part of the 04-05 school year, the true results will be seen after this school year when the Purell will have been in place a full year.
Please include the number of students involved in this project, grade levels and subject areas covered.
This involved the entire Praire Star Elementary School students and staff who support and encourage its use.
Describe how Foundation funds and this project benefited students.
It has enhanced the practice of hand wahsing by students taking the time to use the Purell where as they were not taking the time to wash their hands before. This is a quicker and more efficient means of preventing the spread of germs.
Do you feel this project should be replicated in other schools throughout the district? Please explain.
With the goal being that abscences are reduced and the hope that this will make a difference, I strongly support this as a district project.
