The Best Little Theater in Town-5th Grade Musical Mission Trail Elementary
What was the purpose of this project?
This project was a 5th grade musical. Students only have musicals every other year at MTE, so musicals are a very special experience for them.
Did the project fulfill that purpose? If so, how?
Yes! The musical was a wonderful success. Each student received a t-shirt to wear for the musical and they keep the t-shirts as a keepsake to help them remember the musical. We also had beautiful set construction and props funded by the grant to help make the musical a success.
Please include the number of students involved in this project, grade levels and subject areas covered.
There were 80 students involved in the musical. They were 5th graders. They learned about the elements of a theatrical production through the content of the script for this musical. This project (musical) was created and rehearsed in music classes at MTE.
Describe how Foundation funds and this project benefited students.
Every student got to keep the t-shirt he/she wore in the musical. Their musical was a success, due to the funding used for sets and props, so each student felt successful and created memories that will last a lifetime.
Do you feel this project should be replicated in other schools throughout the district? Please explain.
I think any music teacher could go through Donate Now to fund musicals. Parents have been so willing to contribute to these productions because their children benefit directly because of the Donate Now grant funding!
Other comments:
I've learned first hand that BVEF Donate Now funding directly impacts the students of Blue Valley! I have had a very postive experience using this process.
