BVEF funds District-wide Grants of Educational Excellence

The Blue Valley Educational Foundation announced the funding of two district-wide grants to be implemented during the 2007-08 school year.

BVEF funded a new PE program called HOPSports that will be piloted at all 8 middle schools this year. The cost of the program is $18,000 and includes gym equipment, a projector and various programs led by professional athletes. If the pilot is successful, the district plans to purchase the system for each middle school next year.

BVEF has also funded a new Star Lab that will travel between all elementary schools. This equipment costs more than $16,000 and will replace the previous Star Lab which was deteriorating from over use.

"This year the BVEF Board of Directors designated funds to exclusively support  district wide projects to help every student in the district and not just the students in classes where the teacher receives a grant," said Kate Allen, BVEF executive director.

"Our Directors were thrilled to approve these grants at our September board meeting to enrich the eductational experience of thousands of Blue Valley students for many years to come," said Allen.
