The Blue Valley Educational Foundation's Surprise Squad delivered more than $40,000 in grant checks to the Blue Valley schools on Monday. BVEF moved their grant program to an online format allowing teachers to access funding sooner and apply for grants twice during the school year.

      Helping deliver the fall grant checks were Congressman Dennis Moore and emcee John Holt, anchor from Fox 4 News. Grant recipients included:

§         Libby Woker, Valley Park Elementary, $2050 for Ballroom Dance: A Cross-curricular Experience through Movement

§         Patti Gnau, Morse Elementary, $797 for Morse Earth Club Landscape Project funded by the McPhail Family

§         Kristen Germann, Harmony Elementary, $1,540 for MotivAider

§         Debbie Brady, Overland Trail Elementary, $1,300 for OTE Future Authors funded by CommunityAmerica Credit Union and Harvey Bodker Family

§         Jessica Gibbons, Harmony Elementary $1,000 for Resource Chat N Chew

§         Shari Schaake, Overland Trail Middle, $2,500 for Kids Under Construction:  Parenting with Love and Logic funded by Commerce Bank

§         Randi Swenson, Leawood Middle, $917 for Learn-to-Earn: The LMS Green Machine  

§         Jennifer Tavernaro, Lakewood Middle, $4,943 for Read to Achieve!

§         Alison Harper, Overland Trail Middle, $3,000 for Video Art in the 21^st Century

§         Trevor Sutcliffe, Blue Valley High, $4,034 for BVHS Robotics

§         Dan Ritter III, Blue Valley North, $3,100 for Metal Mustang FIRST Robotics Team

§         Amanda Davis, Blue Valley West, $3,000 for The Power of Publishing

§         Wendy Elkins, Blue Valley Northwest, $4,940 for Real World Science

§         Abby Neiburger, Blue Valley North, $3,288, Using and Creating Podcasts in the Classroom

§         Jennie Perdieu, District Wide, $3,992, Learning with a Beat
